About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain drug discovery experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to internal departments within research and preclinical teams. The in-vitro pharmacology team has a strong reputation in the industry for drug discovery using cutting-edge research technologies.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Developing and implementing automated data analysis processes using different programming languages
Supporting a range of activities, performing (or learning to perform) automated electrophysiology experiments to evaluate drug effects on targets of interest or cell models
Exposure to assay development, with a focus in hands-on ex-vivo or in-vitro electrophysiology assays, to meet research needs including lead identification, optimization, and/or pharmacological mechanism of action (MOA) study, to facilitate drug discovery
Interacting with project team to learn various aspects of drug discovery in addition to relevance of collected data to this process
Data analysis, interpretation, and presentation to audience with a wide range of scientific expertise
Enhancing skillset in communication, time management and organizational/interpersonal skills
Accurate documentation of protocols with clear presented written summaries in addition to frequent verbal data summaries
Interacting with in-vitro pharmacology, chemistry teams and scientists with other expertise within the company
Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in computer science and biotechnology
Specific degree or field required: Data analysis and programming skills are required
Knowledge in biology and/or neurobiology would be an asset but is not required
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think creatively and be a team player
Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics
Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
