Job Description

The Computer Science Department at Keene State College seeks adjunct instructors to teach Computer Architecture and Python Programming, in-person for the Spring 2025 semester. These are part-time, non-benefitted positions.

Course Descriptions:

CS-265 Computer Architecture:
This course introduces the student to the computer as an electronic device. It includes digital logic and the design of critical internal components of the computer system. Topics may also include hardware compilation, microcode, content-addressable memories, and parallel architectures.

ISCS-210 Python Programming introduces computational thinking using Python, with an emphasis on problem solving through computer science. The course focuses on data manipulation and analysis, allowing students to work on real problems using actual data sets. It is designed to engage both majors and non-majors in improving critical thinking skills through practice.

Our students come from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds, with a high percentage of first-generation college students. By the time Keene State College students complete their undergraduate experience they develop critical thinking, creative inquiry, intercultural competence, civic engagement, and commitments to well-being and to sustainability that will serve them as active citizens and lifelong learners. Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution. preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level, preferably in Computer Architecture and Python Programming.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Architecture, including an understanding of digital logic, internal component design, and content-addressable memories.
  • Proficient in Python programming with a focus on computational thinking, data manipulation, and analysis.
  • Ability to effectively engage and inspire students in both major and non-major courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized knowledge in digital logic design and assembly language programming for the Computer Architecture course.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, particularly in libraries focused on data analysis and manipulation, such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Professional experience in a computer science-related industry, applying practical computer architecture or Python programming knowledge in the real world.
  • Experience in software development or hardware engineering that can be integrated into classroom learning to provide students with current industry practices and challenges.
  • Proven ability to use technology effectively in teaching, including virtual labs, simulation software, or learning management systems.
