This position's salary range is $41,975 to $73,066. Any salary amount above the minimum is commensurate upon an individual's qualifications.

Job Description

The Desktop Computer Specialist provides day-to-day support for the hardware, software, and network connectivity of assigned areas and technical support for assigned users.

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Responds to first tier requests from assigned user(s) for technical assistance via phone, in person, or electronic submission.
  • Assists with questions related to user specific hardware, software, and systems.
  • Diagnoses and resolves technical hardware and software issues, through system knowledge and researching questions using available information resources.
  • Makes repairs as needed.
  • Advises user on appropriate action.
  • Closes out help request or escalates for further assistance.  
  • Interfaces with vendors for complex problems and technical issues.
  • Logs all interactions.  
  • Prepares activity reports as requested.
  • Works with assigned vendor(s) to ensure effective software / hardware installations and / or warranty service.  
  • Obtains quotes as needed.
  • Works with the IT Networking team and assigned vendor(s) to ensure accurate hardware installations and moves.  Assists with physical moves for departments and office rearrangements.  
  • Assists with shipping / receiving of PC equipment as needed.
  • Creates images for software installations as appropriate to assigned user(s).
  • Participates in PC Replacement (PCR) activities for assigned user(s) & area(s), including scheduling PCR activities.
  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Information Technology Services

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:  Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field with one (1) year of related experience or a high school diploma and/or equivalent with three (3) years of experience. Must be CITS certified. Basic understanding of systems supported and intermediate-level MS office skills. Experience with the following programs and tools required:
  • Variety of hardware including desktop, laptop, & tablet computers, printers, smart phones, classroom audio / visual equipment, and video conference equipment
  • Variety of operating systems including Windows, iOS, and Android
  • Adobe suite
  • Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager and Apple Configurator
  • Windows Automated Installation Kit
  • Scannx Configurator
  • VMware workstation
  • Symantec Ghost Suite
  • Cscript
  • VPScript
  • PowerShell
  • Sysinternals
  • Netsupport
  • Data recovery software
  • Malware removal
  • Basic network troubleshooting, including DNS and DHCP
  • User software packages specific to department / discipline
  • Variety of web browsers
  • Web Help Desk

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred:  CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+ certified.
