The Department of Pathology (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) at the University of California San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking research faculty in a discipline relevant to organ transplantation to join the new Center for Transplantation Science.
The Center for Transplantation Science is a new interdepartmental research program designed to foster clinical, translational, and basic science research related to transplantation. Relevant research areas including immunology, computational biology, cellular biology, vascular biology, and regenerative medicine are among the areas of focus that would be considered to fit within the interests and scope of the Center. The successful candidates will benefit from the highly stimulating and collaborative environment within the Department and the Center.
The successful candidates will be responsible for developing and maintaining an independent extramurally-funded and productive research program in transplantation science. It is expected that the research will collaborate with other Departments in the School of Medicine. Additional responsibilities will include providing high-quality training and teaching within the School of Medicine.
The opportunity exists for qualified individuals to have clinical effort in Laboratory and Genomic Medicine or Anatomic Pathology, particularly related to transplantation.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD in transplantation research relevant fields.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent, who plan to have a clinical effort must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates who plan to have a clinical effort must be board-eligible/board-certified in Anatomic, and/or Clinical Pathology, or a related field.
Candidates with a current research program in a discipline relevant to organ transplantation with current extramural funding are preferred.
