Job Description
- Occupational Summary
The FAA Airframe & PowerPlant License Test Prep Instructor is responsible for supervising and training students preparing them to successfully take the FAA General/Airframe and/or General/PowerPlant exam to obtain licensure. This position requires flexible working hours; day, evening and possibly weekends. Instructors ensure the quality and integrity of the Workforce Development's programs through teaching, student learning and professional development.
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses to meet program needs
- Integrates classroom and hands-on experience enabling students to demonstrate competencies
- Plans and organizes instruction in ways which maximize student learning
- Modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs
- Oversees day-to-day operation of the class
- Maintains class records; prepares and submits instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy
- Follows all safety and security procedures and notifies campus leadership of deficiency
- Ensures confidentiality of all student records and student information
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill in subject specialty through professional development
- Motivates and encourages students to successfully complete their program
- Promotes community awareness of program opportunities
- Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the college
- Minimum Qualifications
Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Mechanic Certificate (Airframe and Powerplant License).
Preferred:
Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level.- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Commitment to stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the discipline
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Effectively communicate interpersonally (in group and one-on-one settings), verbally, and in writing
- Handle confidential information with absolute discretion
