LEO is looking for a proactive, self-starter who desires to be part of solving one of the most critical issues our nation faces today – poverty. The Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships will be part of LEO’s leadership team and will lead our partnership work within that team. The Associate Director for Strategic Partnerships (ADSP) will play a key role in advancing LEO’s research initiatives by driving and expanding a robust pipeline of research projects. In collaboration with the project development team, the ADSP will ensure a continuous flow of high-quality research opportunities with social service providers, propelling LEO’s growth and impact over the next decade. This leadership position will also oversee the development of key partnerships, both with non-profits and with funding organizations, to support LEO’s ambitious project and operational objectives.
The ADSP is responsible for achieving financial targets critical to sustaining and expanding LEO’s research portfolio. They will lead the grant-submission and development processes in collaboration with the College, Notre Dame Research, and the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Additionally, the ADSP will lead, manage, and hold accountable a high-performing team, fostering an environment of excellence, accountability, and commitment to LEO’s mission. This role requires building strong, mission-aligned relationships with strategic partners to drive LEO’s long-term goals and ensure impactful outcomes in research and development.
Who we are: The Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame is a research center dedicated to reducing poverty and improving lives in the United States through evidence-based programs and policies.
Who we need: We are looking for someone who wants to change the face of poverty in our country and believes that impacting poverty is possible.
The ADSP’s top priorities will be:
- LMA: Lead, manage and hold accountable our project development team and our partnership program manager team (grants and fundraising).
- Identify and secure new partnerships for LEO research studies. Lead the project development team to create and achieve a full project pipeline, achieving annual targets for organizations that are accepted as LEO projects.
- Work with the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations, the Development Office, and the College of Arts & Letters in responding to donor needs, establishing annual fundraising goals, and developing plans.
- Work with the College of Arts & Letters, Notre Dame Research, the Development Office, and the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations to manage large individual accounts for asks and stewardship.
Please note: This is a five-year, limited-term position. Contingent on funding, the position may be extended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related work experience

Required:
- Strong commitment to the missions of Notre Dame and LEO.
- Management and leadership experience.
- Extensive experience or demonstrated ability to create and maintain organizational procedures such as hiring, budgeting, and data protection management is essential.
- Understands and able to work in a rapidly growing environment and strong culture of performance
- Strong communicator both verbally and written.
- Able to work independently.
- Proven ability to set priorities and map direction on concurrent fronts, for both self and direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- 7+ years experience in management, preferably in a University setting
