Research Technologist
Job Description
We are seeking a casual Research Technologist who will assist the Division of Endocrinology.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests using techniques including cell culture, real-time PCR and Western blots.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments and keeps records for these activities.
- Prepare solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Analyze and interpret results, summarize, and report data to the principal investigator and other collaborators as well as present findings in laboratory meetings with a view toward further refinement of research goals with input from colleagues.
- Use sterile techniques to avoid contaminating lab experiments.
- Prepare, clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments used in research experiments.
- Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials.
- Comply with biohazard safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents in the workplace.
Special Skills/Knowledge
- General knowledge in tissue culture techniques, RNA and protein preparations, Western blot and real-time PCR.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- General knowledge in the preparation of solutions and reagents.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($17.20 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10- 15 hours
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
