Job Description

PART-TIME WOMEN’S SOCCER HEAD COACH

 Foothill-De Anza Community College District is establishing a pool of qualified applications for the position of Part-Time Women’s Soccer Head Coach. Assignments may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening or on Saturday and/or in an online format.  Application in this pool is good for both De Anza college and Foothill College. 

Applications will be screened by appropriate department representatives and will be filled on an as-needed basis. This is on-going recruitment, until otherwise noted and applications will remain on file for two (2) years from date received or last submitted.  

The Foothill-De Anza Community College District does not reimburse applicants for travel, lodging or any other costs incurred by applicant to attend interviews or accept employment.  All interviewing and moving costs incurred will be the responsibility of the applicant.

JOB SUMMARY (De Anza College):
The Athletic Department at De Anza College is committed to guiding diverse students towards success in academics, athletic competition and citizenship, by providing opportunities where student-athletes have access to resources to support their growth and development. The Part-Time Head Women’s Soccer Coach will work directly with student-athletes, faculty/coaches and staff to promote student-athlete success and equity. The Mt. Lion Soccer Complex ranks among the best on the West Coast, serving as the host site for the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association State Soccer Championships.  We also have a long-standing partnership with the De Anza Force Soccer Club – recognized as one of the top soccer club programs for developing youth players.  This elite club is housed here at De Anza College.  

This part-time coaching position reports to the Director of Athletics and Student-Athlete Success and the Dean of Physical Education & Athletics. The selected candidate will start the onboarding process this fall with his/her assignment beginning in the Winter 2023 quarter.

 SELECTION PROCEDURE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE
Standard duties expected of all part-time faculty include the performance of instructional, counselor, or librarian duties as assigned; evaluation and assessment of student work; and timely submission of grades. In addition, part-time faculty are expected to participate in the assessment of their performance, including administrative and student evaluations. Part-time faculty may also have opportunities to participate in various campus and staff development activities and are encouraged to be involved in the larger College or District community. Part-time faculty may be eligible to receive additional pay for office hours, additional assignments, and professional development events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Coach intercollegiate Women’s Soccer.
  2. Provide the organization, direction, and administration of the Women’s Soccer. program.
  3. Perform coaching duties at practices and contests.
  4. Home meet preparation and management.
  5. Recruit student-athletes from the college's recruiting areas.
  6. Schedule contests, arrange transportation, and manage the budget.
  7. Stay current on all Division, District, Conference and California Community College Athletic Association rules and policies.
  8. Develop an off-season conditioning and strength program that monitors the progress of the student-athletes.
  9. Assist with fundraising events.
  10. Work effectively with the supervisors, athletic trainers, academic counselor and advisor, equipment staff and others in the Department.

  6. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. 
  7. Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs

NOTE: Official Transcripts verifying qualifications will be REQUIRED after an offer of employment. Applicants who have international transcripts must obtain transcripts that are evaluated by an independent educational-equivalency evaluation company and obtain an English translation (if necessary). These services are to be done at the applicant’s expense. Both Foothill De Anza CCD employees and external candidates must submit transcripts.
