POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Inventory Control Manager reports to the Vice President - Operations, Southwest
  • Located in San Diego Ca or within close proximity of a TriMark office in California
  • Full-Time

The Inventory Control Manager assumes a leadership role in overseeing and optimizing the receiving and inventory control functions. This pivotal position involves managing teams, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The Inventory Control Manager plays a vital role in streamlining shipping operations by maintaining optimal stock levels and overseeing cycle counts. This position leads with a positive and safety-oriented mindset, aligning with the values of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a diverse team of more than 30 employees, including supervisors, material handlers, inventory control personnel, and receivers.
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to maintain a positive and safety-focused work environment.
  • Inventory Control and Receiving:
    • Manage all aspects of inventory control and receiving processes, including replenishment and quality control.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of operations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the receiving and inventory control functions.
    • Identify and implement process enhancements to increase accuracy and productivity.
  • Inventory Accuracy:
    • Ensure the accuracy of inventory levels by maintaining a comprehensive cycle count program.
    • Optimize space utilization for maximum efficiency based on SKU velocity and demand.
  • Year-End Physical Inventory:
    • Lead the annual wall-to-wall physical inventory process, adhering to company financial standards.
    • Implement strategies to minimize disruptions and enhance inventory accuracy during this critical process.
  • Replenishment and Returns Management:
    • Manage replenishment min-max levels and oversee warehouse Returns functions.
    • Maintain SKU maintenance, including slotting strategies and quality control.
  • Inbound Activity Management:
    • Direct and appoint all inbound activity into the distribution center, utilizing inbound delivery appointment software to streamline operations.
  • Training and Safety:
    • Maintain records for employee training, including forklift operation, safe procedures, productivity, and accuracy.
    • Champion company safety initiatives, emphasizing forklift safety and safe lifting practices.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated success as a leader and team builder, motivating and directing staff to achieve operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in lean, six sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies, strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and address complex inventory issues and process enhancements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, hands-on approach, and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external customers; proven success in negotiation with vendors.
  • Knowledgeable regarding OSHA regulations and a commitment to safety in all aspects of operations.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control procedures, space utilization, and receiving/put-away efficiencies in a fast-paced distribution center setting.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 - 8 years of experience in inventory management, distribution center management, and warehouse operations, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • Proven management and leadership experience.
  • Prior experience managing to a budget, specifically labor budgets.
  • Proficiency in automated warehouse management systems, including RF devices.
  • Proven advanced knowledge of Excel and MS Office (Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.

In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
