Position Summary:
- Engages students in the teaching/learning process; works assigned schedule which can include evenings and weekends, represents the College in the community, and performs other related duties as required. Teaches assigned classes, labs, and/or clinicals in accordance with the policies of Terra State Community College, and within the schedule of classes, following the course description, syllabus and/or outline as approved by the curriculum committee. Course faculty are responsible for mentoring and communicating with clinical and lab teaching personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Plans and teaches courses that fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.
- Remains current with subject matter and instructional methodology
- Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Communicates progress in the course to students in a timely manner
- Determines and submits students' grades in accordance with established College policies and procedures.
- Supports the mission of the program, division, and College.
- Designs and implements teaching strategies that will assist a nursing student to meet the course objectives or outcomes.
- Evaluates student’s achievement and progress according to the standards and procedures established by the nursing program and assign course grades, with input from lab and clinical faculty and\or preceptor.
- Clarifies with lab and clinical faculty the role of the teaching assistant and preceptor, if utilized, and the responsibilities of the course faculty
- Consults with lab and clinical teaching personnel, teaching assistants, and preceptors for advice.
- Consults with students by telephone and\or appointment to answer questions and provides assistance relative to the didactic, laboratory or clinical components of the nursing courses.

Education and/or Work Experience:
- Completion of an approved professional nursing education program
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience at the college level preferred
- Master’s degree is required
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations.
- Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students.
- Capability to teach in more than one area of nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to advise students.
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio required.
- CPR certification required.
- ACLS\PALS\BTLS\ATLS CERTIFICATION as required by nursing specialty
- Professional liability insurance provided.
