Are you passionate about storytelling and ensuring accuracy in communication? The University of Notre Dame is seeking a dynamic Associate Editor to join our Public Affairs and Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and promoting the prestigious brand of our University.

What You’ll Do:
As an Associate Editor, you’ll collaborate closely with our senior editor to uphold the highest standards of factual accuracy and grammatical precision across a wide array of engaging content. You’ll have the chance to sign off on compelling campus-wide materials, including:
  • NDWorks articles that highlight our vibrant community
  • Research features showcasing groundbreaking work
  • Event coverage that celebrates our campus life
  • Long-form pieces, newsletters, and promotional campaigns that elevate our narrative
  • Creative projects including advertising, video scripts, and viewbooks

You’ll also contribute to both internal and external communications, editing news releases and feature stories that help protect and enhance the University’s reputation. Your keen eye for detail will be invaluable in maintaining our editorial standards and University Style Guide.

Who You Are:
  • A passionate storyteller with a knack for clarity and creativity
  • Knowledgeable in AP and/or Chicago style, with a strong background in writing and interviewing
  • Comfortable with digital editing and updating web content
  • Ready to provide strategic feedback on diverse projects
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment

This is an on campus position with an option to work 2 days remote after a period of training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years), in Journalism, English or Communications preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong writing and editing skills.
  • Well versed in both the Chicago Manual of Style, and AP style.
  • An enthusiasm for and understanding of the mission, history and ethos of Notre Dame is a must.
  • Must be able to work well under deadline pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
