Job Description

The Cybersecurity Program in the Computer Science Department at Keene State College seeks adjunct instructors to teach OS Administration and Cybercrime in-person for the Spring 2025 semester. These are part-time, non-benefitted positions.

Course Descriptions:

CS-215 OS Administration: This course discusses fundamental system administration issues using the Unix operating system and/or any other operating system chosen by the instructor. It covers installation and configuration, file and directory management, message management, management of system security, multimedia management, basic network configuration, and command language programming.

IICS-350 Cybercrime: An introduction to cybercriminal activities from the perspective of computer forensics, sociology, and criminal justice studies in non-technological language while examining all basics of investigation and prosecution. Emphasis on traditional and new forms of computer crime, such as unauthorized access, online fraud, e-fencing, fraudulent instruments, identity theft, and many others.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable expertise in system administration, specifically with Unix and other operating systems, including knowledge of installation, configuration, file and directory management, and basic network configuration.
  • Proficient in understanding and addressing cybercrime from multiple angles, including computer forensics, sociology, and criminal justice studies.
  • Proven experience teaching at the collegiate level, particularly in system administration and cybercrime courses.
  • Ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds and adjust teaching methods to meet various learning styles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in IT system administration, cybersecurity, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience handling real-world cybercrime scenarios, digital forensics, or law enforcement collaboration would be an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with various operating systems beyond Unix, such as Windows Server and macOS, to comprehensively understand system administration across platforms.
  • Professional experience in IT security, particularly roles involving active cybercrime investigation or digital forensics.
  • Experience with current tools and practices in cybersecurity, including intrusion detection, security information and event management (SIEM), and ethical hacking.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary teaching and research that combines elements of computer science with other fields such as law, sociology, or public policy.
