DESCRIPTION

Under supervision and in support of the Physician Scientist Training Pathway (PSTP) program and the Zarrinpar lab, the Research Project Analyst will serve as a point person and manage key projects associated with a large research portfolio. They will work closely with the Principal Investigator to ensure the timely submission of grant applications, progress reports, and the execution of research protocols by supporting the logistics of complex, multi-site studies. The incumbent will work with various agency grants including, but not limited to, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and research foundations, as well as coordinate and track collaboration among researchers and state and county agencies and clinical organizations. The Research Project Analyst will provide project management support to a multidisciplinary team of UCSD and affiliate clinical, laboratory, and research staff including preparing timelines, management of schedules, providing a list of active program tasks; coordinating and facilitating meetings; organizing conference calls/webinars. They will develop and maintain a tracking system for pending projects, assignments, and all associated deadlines.

Position requires strict confidentiality and sensitivity, a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, tact and independent judgment. While performing duties, the incumbent must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in a rapidly changing, time-pressured environment.

Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
