PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The Public Safety Records Supervisor is a Career Service employee within the Aurora Police Department. Their primary focus is to plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the Records Unit, Records Management Unit, Front Desk, and/or the Digital Records/Media Unit, while performing various operational and clerical functions to support the Aurora Police Department.
 
The salary range for this position is $71,852.80 - $89,816.00 annually

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, and reviews work unit activities.
  • Creates schedules to maintain operations 24/7.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports on unit operations and activities.
  • Responds to a variety of inquiries requiring the interpretation of policy, records related laws, and procedures.
  • Assists in researching, gathering, compiling and preparing a variety of materials for technical and analytical reports
  • Provide CCJRA training to agency PIOs, Records Section staff and other city departments in partnership with the Office of the City Attorney
  • Review and administers records responsive to all Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) requests received by the APD from media, attorneys, organizations, and the general public
  • Drafts, edits, proofreads and prepares correspondence for the Chief's Office
  • Counsels employees on career development. Monitors work during shift and makes appropriate modifications
  • Assists in developing operational priorities, goals, and objectives.
  • Makes recommendations regarding selection, hiring and disciplinary action.
  • Supervises & trains assigned employees.
  • Review and approve online crime reports.
  • Enforces safety regulations and procedures
  • Operates a variety of office equipment including computer systems and related software Maintains, modifies, and updates database information
  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, training and maintaining specialized information systems
  • Assists with investigation and follow-up on complaints.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff; completes midyear and annual evaluations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
