We are seeking a Software Engineer to assist with full lifecycle development and rapid prototyping of autonomous maritime systems. You will join a dedicated team of engineers who cultivate an upbeat agile development environment. Your role will involve developing analysis tools, visualization software, and maritime sensor applications for the Navy's emerging uncrewed systems, working on a diverse portfolio of projects from advanced concepts to systems operated in theater.
As a Software Engineer for our Autonomy Test and Evaluation Section...
- Your primary responsibility will be to perform software engineering to enable the analysis of autonomous platform performance. This includes developing requirements, designing object-oriented software, applying agile development methodologies, integrating and testing systems in the laboratory, and conducting field testing.
- You will install and configure crucial vehicle systems, which includes unique opportunities to embark on US Navy ships to support system sea trials and crew training.
- You will propose and develop innovative methods to apply groundbreaking technologies that extend the capabilities and performance of existing naval systems.
- You will detail software development activities and experimental test results, prepare for and conduct periodic design reviews, and compile technical reports and other briefing materials for presentation to sponsors.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Have a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- Have 5+ years of proven experience working in software engineering with Python, C#, or JavaScript (including Angular or React frameworks) in a highly virtualized Linux-based environment.
- Possess a wide-breadth of software development knowledge with an appetite to learn more.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients.
- Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Are willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Can be medically cleared and capable for work and travel on Navy ships and submarines in order to support at-sea testing and evaluation.

- Have an M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Have 7 or more years of experience developing vehicle performance assessment and analysis software, in a distributed systems development.
- Have experience developing and deploying cloud-ready software in a ized environment such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
- Have experience with software that interacts with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Have experience performing full stack development.
