Director of Partnerships & Curriculum

The Director of Partnerships & Curriculum is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and nurturing partnerships that expand our educational impact and ensure the continual evolution of our curriculum. This role will work closely with educational, corporate, and community partners to enhance our programming and bring dynamic STEM learning opportunities to a diverse audience throughout the state of Texas and beyond, enabling our most marginalized students to see themselves in a future STEM Career.

The ideal candidate will be adept at building and maintaining relationships with educational institutions, industry leaders, and community organizations to foster collaborations that enhance our educational offerings. They will spearhead the creation and continuous improvement of STEM curricula, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with current educational standards and trends. Additionally, they will oversee the implementation of these off-site educational programs, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and are effectively delivered. Leadership and team development are also crucial aspects of this role, as the candidate will mentor and guide a team of curriculum developers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment. Representing the Science Mill in various forums, the Director of Partnerships & Curriculum will play a key role in enhancing the organization's profile and mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic relationships with educational institutions, industry leaders, non-profits, and community organizations. Develop partnership frameworks that align with the Science Mill's mission and expand our reach and impact. Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements that support innovative educational programs and initiatives.
  • Curriculum Development: Lead the development and continuous improvement of cutting-edge STEM curricula that are engaging, inclusive, relevant, and career inspired. Ensure curricular offerings are aligned with current educational standards and trends in STEM education. Collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to integrate real-world applications and technology into the curriculum.
  • Curriculum Management: Oversee the development of educational curriculum, ensuring it meets quality standards and is delivered effectively and on brand. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and partnerships through metrics and feedback to inform continuous improvement. Manage budgets and allocate curriculum resources efficiently to maximize educational outcomes.
  • Teacher Training: Develop and design engaging teacher training in support of the Science Mill portfolio of programs ensuring that teacher’s are trained and engaged to be best situated to deliver science mill programs at the highest level.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of curriculum developers working hand in hand with the Education Programs Coordinator and the Manager of STEM Education Programs, and Director of Strategic Initiatives. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven environment within the team.
  • Represent the Science Mill in public, professional, and academic forums to enhance its profile and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role with a focus on educational program development and or partnership management.
  • 1-2 years of experience developing K-12 curriculum
  • Strong understanding of curriculum standards and STEM education trends both within the state of Texas and nationally.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities

Proven track record in developing and managing significant partnerships within the education and/or corporate sectors is a plus as well as experience developing online teaching and student-facing educational platforms!

This position is flexible and could be fully remote or a combination of 1 to 2 days onsite in Johnson City and the remainder of the week remote.

The Science Mill, located in Johnson City, TX, is a nonprofit science center. We believe that bold and innovative programs, which demonstrate a committed, sustained, multi-level approach to engaging our most marginalized students and supporting educators, are key to building a strong STEM pipeline. With interactive exhibits and programs, the Science Mill helps students expand their understanding of science, sparks curiosity, and inspires them to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. Operating in a very dynamic environment, flexibility and teamwork are required. The team works collaboratively to ensure organizational success.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
