JOB SUMMARY:
Directs the day-to-day actions of the entire accounting department. Maintains agency general ledger, processes monthly financial statements, properly records and reconciles all billings and receipts and oversees payroll. Sets up and maintains internal schedules as required. Coordinates annual audit, maintains agency budgets, tracks/controls all agency capital assets, analyzes department financial statements, trains and evaluates other accounting personnel, assists with special projects and new contracts.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Provides supervision to assigned staff.
- Reviews all check disbursements, grant and billing invoices for correct documentation and monitors account coding for compliance with approved budget and grant guidelines.
- Maintains agency general ledger; prepares and records all adjusting journal entries for financial statements and reviews all other JE’s and assists Department VP’s with financial statement variance reports.
- Prepares Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Bottom Line Report, Cash Flow Statement, Capital Expense Statement, and Special Analysis Reports for distribution to VP’s and Finance Committee members.
- Oversees the payroll process including closing of payroll cycle, clearing Time and Attendance exceptions, and verifying reports.
- Maintains agency Fixed Asset Module in GP. Establishes and updates information files for fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions, and depreciation. Tracks assets purchased with state or federal funds.
- Records and reconciles all funding source billings and payments.
- Attends monthly Finance Committee meetings and records minutes.
- Coordinates and oversees annual audit with outside audit firm. Organizes preparation of all audit schedules and confirmation letters. Acts as liaison with lead auditor.
- Maintains up-to-date cost coding methodologies, prepaid schedules and account spreadsheets.
- Prepares agency debt schedule and maintains current and accurate debt files.
- Will comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct and report any noncompliance to the appropriate official.
- Assists CFO with assignments as requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting required. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university.
Three to five years experience in a nonprofit accounting environment and general ledger. Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge of Excel, spreadsheet analysis and accounting software experience.
