Position: Camp Nurse
Location: Camp Fiver, Poolville, NY
Salary: $175/day or $1200/week
Dates: June 30 2023- August 23, 2024 (can commit to partial days/weeks)
Reports to: Health Center Director and Camp Safety Director

General Functions
The Camp Nurse will be supervised by the Camp Safety Director, and will work in coordination with the Camp Health Director. The Camp Nurse will live on camp property, in the apartment attached to the health center and be on call at all times when on Camp property. The Camp Nurse schedule may be flexible and but will be determined ahead of time to assure coverage of the health center at a ll times.
Skills and Qualifications
The Camp Nurse must l be at least 23 years of age and be a certified physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, register nurse, licensed practical nurse or EMT. Previous experience working with children from both urban and rural environments preferred. A sincere interest in children and comprehension of their needs is required. The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written from is required. The Camp Nurse should be able to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
Essential Functions
- Examine, prior to the beginning of each session, medical facilities and equipment. Report maintenance needs to the Director of Facilities and Grounds and replace equipment as necessary.
- Keep and maintain staff and camper medical records in Health Center.
- Physically examine campers at the beginning of each session and record health conditions.
- Maintain a system for the distribution of medication for staff and campers throughout the summer. Record the distribution ofmedication every time.
- Make medical decisions regarding staff and camper health and recommend visits to a local physician when necessary.
- While on duty, respond to all medical emergencies and serve as the primary decision maker at the site of the emergency.
- Serve as a resource to the camp staff regarding all medical issues.
- Uphold and exemplify the mission and principles of the Fiver Children’s Foundation and Camp.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.LocationLocated in beautiful upstate New York, Camp Fiver is a four-hour trip from New York City and is 45 minutes southeast of Syracuse. Truly a “home away from home,” Camp Fiver’s 129-acre refuge includes a lake, a river, woodlands, a learning center, dining hall, horse barn and more.

- Weekends as needed
