We are currently hiring a Sr. Program Manager, Professional Education. The Sr. Program Manager, Professional Education is responsible for planning, scheduling and executing assigned program initiatives for one or more of the Association's scientific conferences or meetings and various pre-conference symposia. Additional responsibilities include facilitating the late-breaking abstract submission, review, and overall session-building process with late-breaking abstract reviewers, presenters and moderators. This role is responsible for managing volunteer engagement, interaction and online abstract workflow in support of the Program Committee and key volunteers as well as facilitating the publication of abstracts in the appropriate Association Journal.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle the development of educational content for the American Heart Association’s flagship annual conference which includes oversight of invited program and late-breaking science program.
  • Establish trusted communication with volunteers and anticipate needs and expectations in order to reach the strategic goals of the business.
  • Lead the operational aspects of program development with the team utilizing our speaker database to supervise progress and communicate with program faculty.
  • Supervising staff, evaluating performance and providing feedback.
  • Will lead special projects for Scientific sessions which may include oversight of mobile app and/or final program management, including vendor management, content oversight and project management of internal teams involved.
  • Handle project timelines, deadline compliance and effective communication and dissemination of both.
  • Work with internal departments and affiliates to meet department goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, education/instructional design, non-profit management or bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years’ experience managing projects
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience of project management and/or program management, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate, effective decisions related to project management responsibilities
  • Must possesses strong communication (written and verbal) and consensus-building skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Must be able to travel overnight up to 15% of the time

  • Previous experience working with volunteers in a not-for-profit environment preferred
