Job Summary

Perform Diagnostic radiographic procedures utilizing routine radiation procedures. Demonstrate abilities to evaluate technical quality of radiographs. Participate in QI activities and departmental projects. Provide appropriate patient care with excellent customer service skills and professionalism. Perform office procedures as needed including: check-in patients, schedule patients, release of information, and archiving. Spring/Summer work hours will include more related work as required.
 

Responsibilities*

Perform high quality diagnostic procedures (75%)

  • Interpret patient histories and physician instructions.
  • Perform high quality diagnostic procedures, applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to the patients. 
  • Process images by computer manipulation and evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
  • Effectively communicate with patients to obtain important clinical information, instruct the patient, relieve anxiety, and gain cooperation of the patient during procedures.
  • Understand and apply excellent customer service skills. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills. 
  • Adapt to changing environments. Flexibility to rotational assignments, protocol development, technology advancements, and emergency conditions.
  • Perform limited maintenance of equipment and assist in quality assurance responsibilities.
  • Assist with instructing students in radiologic procedures.

Perform office procedures (25%)

  • Utilizing the MiChart system: Check-in patient care orders, schedule ultrasound exams, perform release of information requests, and archive imaging as needed.
  • Other duties:
    • Answer telephone calls in the department.
    • Assist in providing chaperone coverage as needed.
    • Assist in maintaining radiology manuals.
    • Assist in maintaining department inventory as needed.
    • Participate in in-service education.
    • Maintain radiology credentials. (ARRT registration)
    • Perform related work as required.

       

Required Qualifications*

  • Graduation from accredited program of radiologic technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. 
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology is required within the first 6 months of employment. If the registration is not acquired during the 6 months period, employment will be terminated.
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • MiChart experience
  • PACS experience.
  • Previous knowledge of MM or UHS processes.
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills.
  • CPR certification or will become CPR certified upon employment.

Standards of practice for patient services offered by staff within this job family, have the potential to include care offered via telehealth.

Physical requirements

Must have physical ability to push, pull, assist, and transfer patients safely from transportation device to diagnostic table. Must display physical dexterity using fine motor skills.
 

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.  

$28,920 - $34,680 (based on 60% appointment effort) starting salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
